Arne Slot acknowledged that it's expected for concerns to be asked about his future after another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.
Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 games, marking the club's worst streak after being relegated in 1953-54.
They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.
“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got significant support from the top,” the coach remarked.
“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”
He continued, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we turned it around.”
Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:
“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they trust me.”
He further stated, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.”
The manager highlighted recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.
Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.
“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones remarked.
“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”
He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”
“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a phase like this with outcomes so bad.”
Jones concluded, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we’re always going to battle.”
“We will attempt to get this team return to the top, prove once more the values of this club and why it's known as the top club in the world.”
“However currently, things are bad and it must improve.”
