New Information Come to Light Regarding the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Bodies

New information has come to light about the untimely demises of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their residence property on Sunday.

A Discovery

According to a report quoting a person close to the family, a therapist arriving for an appointment initially became concerned after being unable to gain access the house. This individual then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.

Upon entering the home, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Her roommate who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Following this, paramedics found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Developments

Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, along with the charge related to a weapon, said to be a knife. He is now being held and is ineligible for bail.

Disputed Reports

The anonymous source challenged several initial details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that juncture.

The source also pushed back against published claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "worried" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement includes accounts of alleged "unstable" conduct by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. While the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they asserted that claims of a "blow-up" between the two were inaccurate.

Ongoing Inquiry Timeline

Per law enforcement sources, the coroner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports indicated the state of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would be unable to attend until Wednesday or later.
