19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first title for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a closely contested competitive triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks his maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since that period of 2023.

Success also signifies he has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my children at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's retrieving strategy and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his skill to compete at the top level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

He saved 4 early-game chances in a close final set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a shot at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
