The acclaimed actor has lent his vocal talents to a new documentary that challenges the efficacy of immunizations and lauds one-time government figure RFK Jr.
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the film is inspired by a well-known publication co-authored by a controversial scientist, who became famous during the pandemic for assertions that the illness was caused by a faulty batch of the flu vaccine.
Her writing partner, the executive producer, has also written books with conspiracy-prone media personality a known commentator. Heckenlively recently posted praising Neeson's role in the film.
Representatives for the actor have provided a response firmly refuting suggestions that he holds anti-immunization sentiments.
"Many understand that unethical practices can exist within the pharmaceutical industry, but that should never be equated to rejection of vaccines," the response states. "Liam has never been, and remains not, anti-vax. His long work with Unicef reinforces his enduring support for public-health initiatives."
The statement noted that the performer was not involved in crafting the film's editorial content and that concerns about its content are best addressed to the producers.
As presented, the script spoken by Neeson includes several provocative points:
The film further cites a 2004 BBC documentary about AIDS medication trials on children, which was afterwards the topic of a BBC apology by the network for unbalanced reporting.
In recent weeks, RFK Jr instructed the national health agency to revise its longstanding position that there is no link between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This supposed link is echoed in the film, even with a recent study from the global health body reiterating no such link has been found.
Differing from the documentary's message, Neeson has previously voiced firm endorsement for vaccines in his role as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
Two years ago, he called vaccines as "a remarkable human success story," stating that "The discourse about vaccines in recent years has overlooked how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in human history."
The film concludes with Neeson's voice proclaiming, "This marks not the end of our story. Rather, it is the start of a new chapter."
