That Gruesome Animated Movie Ending That Stays With Audiences

Out of every adult-oriented cartoon movies I have personally watched, no other has stuck with me as much as the dread-soaked ending of the explicitly bloody and highly provocative 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.

In 2015’s, this Spanish filmmaker developed a dark, bleak and often savage world that included a few small , forlorn glimmers of hope.

While Unicorn Wars seems like it originated from a desire to advance the medium further, the filmmaker explained that it was actually a try to communicate a widespread, cross-cultural theme concerning “the shared root of every conflict.”

This theme is communicated through a band of colorful pastel bears , openly modeled after a famous series of lovable figures.

Maturing in a community built around militarism and the military-industrial complex, many of these creatures are fixated on killing the mythical beasts, due to a holy book that claims them they were once masters of the forest, until the unicorns drove them out.

Some did not entirely fallen for the propaganda, , choose to sample substances and engage sexually outdoors.

Unlike their cuddly counterparts, these bright beings have visible genitals , definite sex drives.

For one notably brutal, cynical bear, the bear named Bluey, the war against the unicorns transforms into a road to power — and specifically to supremacy over his more tender, kinder brother the bear Tubby.

Bluey acts as a tormentor and an apparent antisocial figure , and while terror takes over his unit and kills his teammates sequentially, he grabs increasingly power on his own behalf, in increasingly gory, harmful methods.

At the same time, these mythical beings are experiencing their own nightmare, through a spreading, deadly beast in their habitat.

“Initially, it feels like a lighthearted film,” the filmmaker said. “However it evolves into a more serious and sorrowful film. And by the end, it transforms into a scary feature.”

The Unicorn Wars commences similar to one of the more quirky films by an iconic filmmaker, which find a mischievous joy in allowing animated figures swear, engage in violence, or engage sexually.

Subsequently it becomes more akin to a more grim film from the same director, with increasingly graphic violence , a noticeable link to the actual suffering of battle.

By the end, it is a complete Grand Guignol bloodbath.

The fear that turns the film a Halloween-friendly viewing starts much sooner than one might expect.

Unicorn Wars is suited for the most dedicated lovers of violence, for lovers of extreme cinema who wish to see something they’ve never seen on-screen before, and can endure a plot which delivers absolutely no punches.

See it with the lights off free from interruptions, and the conclusion will dig deep within you and take up residence there.
