The Reform UK leader Accuses Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics

The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by instructing students that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.

At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I expect a teachers’ strike soon after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.

“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They create division, not uniting us. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”

Reacting to these assertions, Daniel Kebede dismissed the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.

“Farage has built his political career on coded rhetoric and now, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their unions for a fight,” the union leader said.

“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”

The party, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.

Nonetheless, his comments suggested the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with education – absolutely herculean. Moreover, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, years to turn this around.”

He stated that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Honoring a conservative activist, Farage said: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves as opposed to what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.

Farage has accused the union head with being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted through education, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.

Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in schools and extensive missed instruction for children.

During the American gathering, Farage also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I am serious. I will help attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I make that commitment now and I will follow through.”

The institution, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for no charge to every interested learner.”
